    Re: Riso/computer interfacing

    Hello,

I,ve just arrived to Riso world, so my opinion may not be considered.

I'm using a RP3700 connected to a Win 7 PC running a virtual Win2000, without a RIP, with a USB to serial converter.
Not sure if this could work on a Mac
It was working ok till last week, when it started to fail proccesing the data. Not sure where the problem is.

Yesterday I managed to connect again and no problem, but I'm afraid what i'm finding next time
    Hope this helps

    Paco

Haha..this is what it boils down to when using Risos

I managed to connect ours with the USB->Serial Cable and lots of trying out. I figured it out now. So if somebody needs a hand in getting it working with our setup (RP3700/3500 with a Laptop running WinXP) just msg me and I'll try to help!

    best of luck

    For Mac OSX:
-make sure your rip is on the network, turned on and has an IP address
    -open cups in browser http://localhost:631/admin/
    - add printer
    - select Windows printer via spoolss
    - use the following format to fill in your RIP's IP: socket://ipaddress
    - provide ppd driver file for your riso
    - Done!

You will get an error after setting up, about conflicting settings, enable the multifeed(? i forgot..)
Just enable multifeed tray (select 'installed' in drop down menu) and the error is gone.

Happy printing from any system print dialog!
Thanks A LOT! have spent the last two days trying to emulate OS9 on a 2011 macbookPro and connect the SC7700 through ethernet, with absolutely no luck. I will definitely try this technique this evening.
With this system, are you also able to scan through the Risograph?
Does the Riso have to be connected to the RIP while doing the setup, or can it be connected later?

    Thanks and greetings from Vienna,
    Giulio
