    HP Designjet 430 Error Lights

I'm having a problem with my HP Designjet 430. When I turn the printer on the "Ready", "Cartridges" and "Data" lights come on steady. When I hit cancel the "Media" light turns on and flashes and the "Normal", "Coated" and "Roll" lights turn on steady. Any idea where to start?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: HP Designjet 430 Error Lights

the first 3 lights staying on steady is for the mark encoder either the line on the roll is missing or dirty or the reader is faulty. the lights you get when you press cancel aren't listed. not all errors have a sub code. subcode is what you get when you press cancel I'm pretty sure the encoder is the little flat cable on the side of the carrier, it shines on the line on the edge of the roller. first see if you can see the line, if you can;t the machine can't.
