    HP M3035 random horizontal ines

    Subject: Random lines across pages
We get prints with randomly spaced horizontal lines the entire width of the page. The lines can vary in thickness from a very thin line, like the width of an ink-pen drawn line to about 1/2" wide. The lines are solid and black with sharp edges just as if you printed a document with lines on it. They are randomly spaced down the page, sometimes spread fairly evenly across the entire page, other times clustered in a section of the page. Have also seen a few times pages that are completely black. Usually re-seating the toner a few times and/or power cycling will correct the issue for hours or days before it returns.

Sounds like a bad toner right? I've seen it frequently enough across multiple toners including genuine HP toners that I don't believe it is just bad toners.

Not related to this issue, we had a firmware upgrade fail and we ended up replacing formatter. With that expense, I was hoping for a second opinion before doing anything else.

    Thank you

Did it do it before replacing the formatter?

If I interpret this correctly, it sounds like an intermittent loss of charge bias. I'd check the contact for that on the machine for problems.

Yes it did. 've since had another printer, M3027, at another location doing the same thing. It comes and goes.

This issues may be a toner cartridge grounding problem. Remove the left cover and clean the ground contacts.
