HP CM1312 MFP will not pick up paper from tray 2
I have a HP CM1312 MFP that will not raise the paper to the feed position. If you remove the paper from the tray, it will tell you the tray is empty. If you remove the paper tray, it will as for the paper tray. Fill the tray and put it in the printer, the tray will not raise, thus the pickup roller will not rotate. I can here the assemblies turning, however there is nothing in the service manual on how to troubleshoot the problem or resolve it. Any assistance would be deeply appreciated.

Does that have a duplex tray on it? Check and see if there's any paper caught in the duplex area--or that the sensor for that area is ok. That might have something to do with it. I'm not looking at one right now, so I can't remember how the tray lift works for this, but I remember that some of these use the same roller to pull from the duplex area, and I think it doesn't raise the tray if pulling from there. Also, I think tray 1 feeds into the same area--a plate right above where tray 2 sits.
