    4540

    Hi Guys

I have a customer with an HP CM4540 printer which keeps going into sleep mode and will not wake up when they go to print. I have trawled the internet and looked at the usual solutions including fitting a new hard drive and also new formatter/network board which have been done all to no avail. Every time l go to the Customer machine works fine. I suspect this may be a problem with their computer system although IT people say no. Fed up with arguing about it so hopefully some-one can help. Is there a way of turning off the sleep mode on these machines?. If l can do that it will solve the problem all round. I have read on some sites that it is NOT possible so thought best place to go is this forum as if anybody knows you guys would.
    As always appreciate your help

I had an hp 4700 that would not wake. It was the network. I could duplicate the issue on site, so I took it to shop and showed customer how it would wake up on my network. Did you reload the drivers?

Disable = Enable Sleep/Auto Off Timer

Should have the option under general/energy settings/Sleep Timer Settings

I also would make sure the firmware was up to date.

Ethernet or WIFI connection to the Printer.... ?

    Check Windows :
Control panel | Device manager | Network Adapter | Properties | Power management tab| "Allow computer to turn off this device to save power"
    is NOT checked or enabled.

That's great. Many thanks for that. Got to go this morning and will try. Updated the firmware last time so that is fine
    Thanks again
