    HP 4250 prints across 2 pages/ jams

The 4250 will print an image across 2 sheets of paper and both sheets are coming from 2 different cassettes (#2 and 3). It also has been jamming frequently. Maintenance kit has 84% life left on it, I just put it in about a month ago.

    Sample pic and event log:

I normally service Canon copiers but have been working on 2 HP 4250's for a good customer for the last year. Maintenance kits and basic cleaning has pretty much been the extent of what I've done.

Could a swing guide assm cause this? It is making a little rumbling noise and after searching the forums it seems like they are a normal replacement part.

clean the paper pickup solenoid, seems the noise absorber pad is become sticky.

Thanks for the quick response. As old as this machine is, I'll probably just replace the whole solenoid.

Pretty common on the HPs, the foam turns to a sticky mess.

They come with a different material being used on the new parts.

I've seen that happen on a lot of the Canon copiers.

Are the solenoids the same for tray 2 and tray 3?

My book shows RK2-0269-000CN for tray 2 solenoid in the 4250..... and do not see much avail for the ACC tray 3 for parts.

Thanks. Looks like RK2-0269, RK2-0270 and RK2-4078 are all interchangeable according to PartsNow.com

You can try the solenoid for tray 3, otherwise clean and replace the pad.

Picture No. 1: looks like a multi feed problem, sticky paper pickup solenoid, cheap generic feed/separation rollers or feed/separation roller in the tray not seated.

Picture No. 2: light print repetitive, toner cartridge or fuser causing problem

For rumbling noise from the rear, check the swing plate gears for wear. Remanufactured fuser assembling also can cause this noise.

    1.7M impressions !!!

I have terrible luck trying to make my own pads...... so I stopped.

Too thick, too thin. Not sure of reliability, etc.

I use either optional control panel stickers, or inner tube, punched with a 1/4" hand punch. Never leave it without the pad. The metal actuator will magnetize acting exactly like a sticky foam pad. =^..^=

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
