    HP designjet T2500

This machine ejects paper or should I say returns it to the roll. It backs it all the way out of the machine . You can make as many prints as you want. But if you come back after it's left alone (sleep mode ) you have to reload paper. It backs it all the way out of the machine. Any help is appreciated THANKS

    Seems you're not alone.

The last post mentions some spacers. I would contact HP directly. Is the printer under warranty?

    1stcavvet--

If you end up installing the spacers, could you post the part # and results?

    Thanks

    Re: HP designjet T2500

I asked HP about this problem; the spacers mentioned go between the end of the roll and the blue and black hubs to create a tiny gap between the paper and the hubs in order to reduce friction. Apparently they did away with the spacers and have modified the spindle assembly instead.

I'm told the most common reason for the paper to unload is not enough back-tension on the rewinder motors. So make sure the blue hub is locked in, make sure if they're using 3" core media that they're using the adapters, make sure the media has not come detached from the core, etc. There is a rewinder test in the diagnostic menu.

OK, I got more info on this problem:

The main cause of this problem is the media (and or its core) spinning on the hubs. Make sure the blue hub is locked.

If the customer is using an odd paper width, like 30", the spindle hub will come in contact with the black pinch roller on the roll cover. The solution: Remove the pinch roller.

Ensure the firmware is up to date.

The new spindle hubs have a raised (about .5mm) surface on the inside that creates a gap between the roll and the inside of the hub, to reduce friction. The new spindle part number is CR357-67093

And a remote possibility is the environment. If the printer is in an office and the a/c shuts down overnight/over the weekend, the paper will expand as the humility rises and cause slack. (I think this is very unlikely but I'm just passing it along.)

While it's usually a good idea to update the firmware, that version the PDF mentions, makes no mention of the issue.

    Enhancement/Fixes included in MRY_02_00_06.8 version
    • FTP printing now supports long file names
    • Improvements to prevent errors related with the Ink Supply Stations (SE22.x)
    • ePrint and Share connectivity reliability improvements
    • Fixes included for SE89:x

    However..

    Enhancement/Fixes included in MRY_04_01_00.2 version
    • Adds the option to print with 3 mm print margins (instead of 5mm)
    • Adds the compatibility of the 300 cc ink cartridges for all colors.
    • Improvements and fixes when printing using AirPrint (from an iO mobile device)
    • Enables the PIN printing feature from the driver (only with the latest driver available)
    • Adds the option of "Black Enhancement" when scanning (T2500mfp only)
    • Adds the NTLMv2 compatibility
    • This new release applies the needed changes related with the discontinuity of the HP ePrint and Share.
    • New icon in the front panel home screen to directly access to ePrint information.
    • Added new feature in the Service Utilities Menu to disable the core attached checking, decreasing roll unloading issues.

    So yeah, update that firmware!
