Hi friendsI have an hp LaserJet c500, it has a black thin line in the middle of the copies only when photcopying.Printing from a computer is fine, the copies are clean when printing. The black thin line comes on using both glass and ADF and I tried cleaning optics, nothing changed, could there any other cause leading to that line? Am stuckI need some help from you please.RegardsSema

Did you check the black laser?

Sounds like there is a TINY blob of pen ink or a TINY blob of gunk on both the slit and flatbed glass somewhere. Have seen both. CAREFULLY (using a flashlight - this is how I figured out my issue) examine BOTH the slit and flat bed glass for ink/gunk, etc. Also make sure the white background is CLEAN.

that would show during printing .. he only has problem when copying ... I agree with double checking the optics in the scanner area.. class and lamp area.

It wouldn't be in the slitglass. Possibly dirt on the scanner itself. More than likely, you'll have to replace the entire scanner assembly.
