HP X585Z not detecting correct ADF after mech unit replacement.

I'm working on a X585Z. This model is the one with the keyboard and the single pass duplexing adf. The mech unit developed problems so we replaced the mech unit. The problem is while it detects it's a flow printer, it's not detecting that the ADF is a single pass duplexing model. It thinks it has the reversing model with the mechanical sensor, and not the single pass with the optical sensor. The formatter was transferred from the old mech unit but I can't get it detect that it has the right ADF.

The unit is a B5L06A model, but the config page is listing it as a B5L05A model. I'm guessing if I can somehow tell it the printer is a B5L06A this will fix the problem, but I have no idea how to do this. I don't see anything in the service menu.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks in advance for any help.

The whole printer was replaced and you swapped formatters? Am I reading correctly?

    What's a mech unit?

The mech unit is the printer part of the X585Z. Once that's received I take the Scanner/ADF assembly, control panel, formatter, paper tray, and power supply off the bad mech unit, and put it on the new mech unit. (printer)
The mech unit is part #: B5L04-69001
    and looks like this: b5l04-69001.jpg

    Huh.....

So that's HP's repair strategy with these "printbar" printers now.

I remember when they came out, you needed the special tools to properly repair them. I've got them, but, have never touched one. They had A LOT of problems with they first came out.

Sorry I can't help much. I'm not seeing anything on the HP Channel Services Network either in the way of documentation/notes/etc.

This is only their strategy with the enterprise level printers. The cheaper ones we still have to dig in and replace parts. So far I haven't had to replace a printbar, but I'm assuming it's going to happen on the pagewide models soon enough.
