HP Designjet 4500 "Black ink Missing" message
The printer has a nice wash with Cyan ink from a broken tube.
It also gave a message "Black ink missing" on a new cartridge, I replace the cartridge and after playing with it in and out it was ok.
The customer bought himself a "refurbished" ink tube assembly with no board, I replaced the ink tube assembly and trailing cables and clean the printer from the Cyan ink.
The message "missing black ink" come back and staying even after inserting new cartridge.
Any idea? is it the "refurbished tube assembly or the tube assembly board (that wasn't replaced)?
Thanks

Of course, the 4500 is a whole different beast, but one of them goes to show how 2 different new inks can both have problems.

Re: HP Designjet 4500 "Black ink Missing" message
From what I've typically seen, these are the culprit:
Q1273-60245 - ISS to Cartridge Cable
The first time I replaced one, I didn't think it was going to do much, but, when I thought about it, it makes sense. The contacts on this assembly are constantly getting pushed in and out when cartridges are removed and inserted. They do eventually wear out.

I find you have to sort of press the ink cartridge in with one hand, and wiggle the receiver (the part Lance mentioned) in against the cartridge and it usually works correctly after that. If it's chronic, then replace the ISS to cartridge cable assembly.
Was there ink in the new tube assembly? Just curious.
