    hp laserjet m725

The paper coming from the 2nd cassette is putting a nick in the paper about 1-1.5in wide right in the middle of the leading edge. sometimes it's bad enough to stop the paper from feeding out of the cassette. tray #3 never does it. First repairs were to replace the pickup roller and the seperation roller assembly. the sep. roller was flattened out on 3 sides not round any more. new roller ,new sep assembly. still does it. tried adjusting spring tension in the cassette. even tried giving the pan in the cassette alittle bit of a curve. nothing works. looking for any ideas, like I said tray 3 never does it so it must be some thing in or around the tray2 pickup area THANKS

You have to find where the paper is catching. If it stops sometimes, then you have to look at where it stopped. Something is out of place.

it'll feed 100 sheets of paper and maybe 20-25 will have this wide (1-1 1/2) knick in the leading edge. It doesn't always jam if it does jam the paper never leaves the drawer. That's why I wanted to know if anyone else has seen the machine do this, It's really weird. originally the sep roller assembly had a deformed roller, replaced all that, and machine does the same knicking with the new parts THANKS

Pull the drawer out and take a piece of paper and rub the edge against the paper ramp in the drawer. It's catching on something. Then try it on the paper ramps in the machine.

turns out the seperation roller in the new sep assembly was too tight took it apart and greased the clutch spring and reassembled and took off running like a champ

In the past, when I saw flat spots on sep rollers, it would turn out to be the torque limiters.

on this machine there is no torque limiter, the whole assembly is brand new. comes all one piece like the old 3005 or 24XX series I bought it brand new and had to dissemble it and fix the problem. so much for quality control
