HP M477FWP reports jam in output bin
Hi
Examination of the paths and can not find any paper remnants anywhere. But the message will not go away. This makes the printer useless. The printer inside is very clean.
Has anyone else seen this issue on this model? Where is the sensor that triggers the error?
Thanks.

Re: HP M477FWP reports jam in output bin
I haven't seen this error specifically. All I can think of is the black flap that shows whether the output tray is full might be out of position...but then, I'd expect to see a message saying the output tray was full, rather than jam in the output tray.

Re: HP M477FWP reports jam in output bin
Does anyone have a service manual on this unit? Before scrapping it would like to test the sensor itself.
Otherwise suspect it is a logic/board failure. HP are not being very forthcoming in assistance.

Re: HP M477FWP reports jam in output bin
It looks like the Output Bin Media Full sensor is in the fuser.
Duplex; (110-127V) RM2-6418-000CN
Duplex; (220-240V) RM2-6435-000CN
Simplex; (110-127V) RM2-6431-000CN
Simplex; (220-240V) RM2-6436-000CN

Solved Re: HP M477FWP reports jam in output bin
Thank you Lance15
It was in the fuser. I can not imagine how HP thought end users would be able to clear a jam stuck inside the fuser.
It was not even visible until the fuser could be pulled out.
And the sensor is at the back of the fuser but again not visible until both sides and the rear covers are off.

Re: HP M477FWP reports jam in output bin
So much for easy preventative maintenance, nearly stripping the machines down to the frame just to change the fuser. I miss the 4200/4300 series. No tools required for PM kit.

This series is the middle of the road series. Easy on the checkbook up front, but, repair costs can hurt.
