Re: Color laserjet pro MFP M477 59.F0 error

I don't know what causes it. I had one of those errors on a 452 recently, followed the manual by changing the drum motor, no go. Changing the transfer belt fixed it. Just go with it.

    Hi there!
The only way i solved this prob. was to change the itb. The engine is CANON, and my coworkers never had this on the CANONīs !!!!!
    Greetings...

Yes, this 59.F0 error is becoming a very common issue on these models as well as M452 series, recommended solution is to change the Transfer Belt Assembly. Here's an article -- 59.F0 error HP Color LaserJet M452nw M452dn M452dw M377dw M477fnw M477fdw

Re: Color laserjet pro MFP M477 59.F0 error

try updating the DCC firmware first it has worked for me several times those ITB units are expensive

HP Color LaserJet Pro M452, MFP M377, MFP M477 - 59.F0 Error (Service Action Advisory)

DESCRIPTION A 59.F0 error displays on the control panel and persists even after the printer is rebooted. The error indicates that the Intermediate Transfer Belt (ITB) Assembly might have experienced a hardware failure that is unrecoverable.
    note:

The 59.F0 error might appear intermittently at first, but displays more frequently with continued use after rebooting. This Service Action Advisory applies only to cases in which rebooting (turning the printer off, and then on) does NOT resolve the 59.F0 error.
Figure : The 59.F0 onscreen error

The 59.F0 error triggers a related 59.0240 error that will appear in the Event Log section of a Service Page Report. The 59.0240 error code also indicates an ITB hardware failure.
Figure : Example of 59.0240 error code appearing in the Event Log

    SCOPE
    Products Product Number
HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M377-M477 series CF377A/CF378A/CF379A/M5H23A
HP Color LaserJet Pro M452 series CF388A/CF389A/CF394A

Products and Serial Number Cross ReferenceThis service action advisory applies ONLY to models with serial numbers that start with VN D, JP B, or VN F:
    Product model Serial number range
    110V VN Dxxxxxxx
    110V JP Bxxxxxxx
    220V VN Fxxxxxxx

RESOLUTION In cases in which rebooting the printer does not resolve the issue, choose one of the following service actions:
Method 1: Upgrading the DCC firmware (preferred)Upgrade DCC firmware to controller number 15101. This is the preferred solution for the following models, which have a USB drive in the front:

    • HP Color LaserJet Pro M452dw
    • HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M377dw
    • HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M477fnw
    • HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M477fdn
    • HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M477fdw

Follow these steps to upgrade the firmware:

    1. From a computer, download the prn file and upgrade instructions from HPRC-INC File Transfer Service. Log in using the following credentials:

      • Account name: dccfw
      • Password: .Gbu1108

    2. Follow the onscreen instructions to download the DCC upgrade instructions.pdf and DCCV1_51.prn files.
    3. Copy the DCC V1_51.prn file to a USB drive that uses the FAT32 format.
    4. Turn the printer on, if necessary.
    5. Plug the USB drive into front USB port.

    12. Wait for the upgrade to complete.
      note:

The printer will automatically reboot during the upgrade. Do not turn the printer off while the upgrade is taking place.
    13. After the printer reboots and returns to a ready state, print a Configuration Report to ensure that "15101" is listed under Controller Number.
Figure : Configuration report listing 15101 as the controller number

Method 2: Replace the Engine Controller PCB AssemblyIf upgrading the DCC controller firmware is not an option, replace the engine controller PCB assembly.

Re: Color laserjet pro MFP M477 59.F0 error

Eh, it may resolve but I think updating the DCC firmware is a "band-aid" solution -- there's an actual physical defect, a sensor in the actual ITB that is prone to malfunctioning and my guess is HP uses the firmware revision to disable that sensor. Seems kinda shady. You'll notice at the bottom of the "Service Action Advisory" that if the firmware upgrade is not possible, the recommended solution is replacing the ITB. It is an actual hardware problem but somehow the firmware overlooks / overrides.

You must work for printer techs I see you have linked to the parts selling web site in other posts, HP released this firmware as a factory authorized fix hardly shady.

Eh, believe it or not HP can behave shady and recommend shady/technically-incorrect workarounds :-) They have not been quick to admit faulty hardware going way back, they said they found a fix for faulty swing plate assemblies on HP 4250/4350/4200/4300/4345 but that was inaccurate, they said they had a fix for the ripping sleeve problem on 4200 fusers and that wasn't true, the faulty fuser drive gear problem continues into P4015/M602 with varying degrees, they produced thousands of faulty J6057A JetDirect cards and had a very "hush-hush" recall, thousands of failed P3015 boards, P2015 boards, P2055 boards with limited recalls, etc. The CP3525 / CM3530 have fuser drive gear assemblies with failing solenoids that were never addressed. HP M602 OEM fusers often come with low-quality factory grease / sleeve combos that won't even last the service intervals without jamming. So yes, I'm suggesting HP would be glad to write a shady firmware that somehow "ignores/overrides" a failing sensor in an ITB rather than issue warranty replacement ITB's or fix/replace the actual ITB issue. If you want to check out the root issue there are YouTube videos of people disassembling these ITB's to locate the sensor and the problem. It's obviously cheaper for HP to rewrite software and issue a "firmware revision" / "fix"; I just consider it a way for them to avoid addressing the root issue. This is a known hardware problem and if you Google / call most reliable tech support for the larger printer parts companies they will tell you to replace the ITB. Whenever we write a new article you will probably see it post to corresponding threads.

Not true. I've replaced 3 or 4 ITB's under warranty on the single-function model (M452). That being said.........I have seen for many years now that manufacturers are able to re-write firmware to "address" hardware issues. Not sure if that's a good thing or bad...................
