    M551 clicking noiseAny

I know the normal operation has a certain amount of ratchet & clicking sounds, but the customer thinks there’s extra clicking she hasn’t heard before. It’s not all the time, just around calibration or finishing up a job. There may have been some clicking, it’s difficult to say for sure. Visually inspected gears, and ran all the motor tests with no noise. I read someone mentioned possibly cartridges. They just put in a yellow that seems suspicious to me. After one week and 221 pages it says it’s very low. The drum shows wear and seems like hardly toner left in it.
I still don’t know how these chips count pages. The status page says when it was installed & knew it was almost out. If it was an old one thrown in a box, how did the chip record a new install date. If it was a new chip on an old cart, how did it tell it was almost out.
Anyway, I’ll get new one to try. In the meantime, does anyone know or hear of extra clicking on these machines & knows where to check & find it ? Thanks for your consideration.

Just like any other noise complaint.

You have to let it go until it's loud enough to find or it starts causing other problems making it possible to locate the source. If you "think" there's an extra click, you'll have to just wait and see.
