HP E7 and E8 Laserjet series background at run up

Anybody else out there in HP land having trouble with E7 and E8 Laserjets giving background from run up?
We can shift 20 of these boxes a month and a very high percentage of these show a light background when run up. HP seem quite mystified and keep telling us that we're the only people in the world who are complaining about this problem.

The amount of background isn't much but compared to a brand new Ricoh at run up the difference is very, very noticeable. HP's only solution is to run off 1500 copies to age the drums but have yet to say anything about compensation for time, paper and toner spent trying to get a reasonable copy out of a brand new machine.

If we can show HP that we are not alone we might get them to realise that their product needs a bit of tweaking to bring it up to an acceptable standard.

    Cheers, Lagonda.

Monocomponent or dual component? Are you sure it's not detoning of the developer that resolves the backgrounding issue? Back in the day, when we changed the developer on analog machines, we had to run 100 to 200 copies to allow the new developer to stabilize before adjusting exposures. Just theorizing ...

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Sorry, should have said that its the MFC colours we're having trouble with. E77xx and E87xx. Still getting used to HP number schemes.
Our point is that straight out of the box we shouldn't have to de-tone or condition drums.
