    HP 4730

I've got a hp 4730 that recently lost ability to connect to network. When I printed a config sheet, the nic setting page didn't even print. I replaced the formatter board, the nic is onboard. OPs check good. 2 days later, they can't print again. Same as before, did test print and it stuck in the queue and can't ping either. Has anyone seen this before? End user said this is was the 2nd formatter board replaced within a year. Any ideas?
I suggested that they put surge suppressor inline.

Do you have a slot to accept a Jetdirect 620n? Costwise it should save you some money.

And yes, I'd get an ESP surge suppressor and make sure both the power and network are passing through it.

Do you have a power quality analyzer you can put on the wall outlet? The results can be shocking. I mean, that anything could run on the kind of dirty power coming through. =^..^=

I had that problem occur once all I did was perform an NVRAM reset then reprogram the printer and that's it, 2 days later it occured again but not only did the nic not work but printing out the config sheet resulted in garbage being printed after resetting the NVRAM and confirming that everthing was working again I placed a line monitor on to test the outlet they were using and discovered they were having intermitten power spikes due we discovered to the construction next door. After the construction plus we used a good power source to connect to we've taken care of it and it's been over a year since we've had that problem.
