HP M880 adf question

Last Friday I went and put adf kits in two of these and cleaned them. Cust calls this morning and says one won't pull paper. I think maybe the holder isn't snapped up all the way. I go on site and what is happening is that the lift tray on the adf is stopping about half an inch or more from the sep pad, and then making a grinding type of noise. I see what lifts the tray and want to inspect the cam. That is when I realize that I cannot see how to access these motors. Only the very top of the back of thee adf comes off. I leave and go to shop to check the manual and find nothing in there about any adf repairs. So now I am quoting a new adf. Question is, has any one else had this issue and what was the resolve.

I've been into these DF's. HP did not design them to be serviced. IIRC you need to remove the DF and flip it upside down to disassemble. Even so, the only replaceable parts are the DF rollers and the hinges, so you'll end up changing the DF assembly.

Odds are, you won't be able to repair the drive issue without parts. Maybe you can use the dead DF to repair the next one, sometime in the distant future. Not for the same issue, of course. =^..^=

Thanks for responding. I assumed as much. Can get them a refurb for $765. Will go that way.
