Rear of machine could be formatter or power supply. Probably would have worked if hey would have let it dry. My guess would be formatter. May want to look up price for a refurbed one.

Be carefull with any machine that has had past water damage. It may work for you now, but 6 months from now, other weird, unrelated errors sometimes pop up. Anything with water damage should be an insurance job/machine write-off. Perfect opportunity for a new sale!! Past experience with me is that anything water damaged should be treated very carefully as future reliability & your reputation rely on it if you have guaranteed that it will be ok after this particular repair. If you can fix it, go for it..... I'd just let the client know that nothing hardware-wise in the machine is guaranteed after any water damage. Remember... it may take a few months for any rust/corrosion to show on other parts.
HI,
Thanks for replys. Ill be careful and follow your suggestions. I did leave out one detail which is important.Customer said although no display, the machine does cycle when turned on,however they cant print.
Thanks, ANDY
If printer powers up, then power supply is good.
I agree with fixthecopier, because:
Formatter formats the image to be printed and communicates to the PC. Anytime you have a blank display, still have power to motors and fans it is either bad display or bad formatter. Therefore, it should be the formatter that is bad.
I also agree with wazza, it will cause you problems later. I have experienced problems with water damage before, and you'll have nothing but problems later. When I worked for a field service company we had clients affected by flood damage in Mississippi. I also had a client in Atlanta that put a hanging plant over the printer in her office. She went on vacation, had someone water her plant, but neglected to instruct them to move the plant before watering. Maybe you can upgrade them to a 5100 or 5200.
It's how you deal with failure that determines how you achieve success.
HI,
Thanks for fast reply,I will talk to customer before I do call to let him know wise course would be to purchase new printer.
Thanks, Andy
