    HP Laserjet 3 PCL5

Customer says after installing printer cartridge the printer says to install printer cartridge. After removing and reinstalling sometimes several times the printer recognizes the toner cartridge. Is this a problem with the cartridge or a dirty sensor(switch) in the printer. If it's the printer where would I find the culprit.
    Thanks!

    1) cartridge contacts
    2) printer contacts (that make contact with cartridge contacts)
    3) HVPS

Is this a common problem with the rebuilt cartridges?

Normally, the reman cartridges work fine, especially when there are no chips involved.

This is a cartridge that does not use a chip, as the HP 1300 is the first cartridge that uses a chip.

Check the contacts and make sure that they are really clean and are properly contacting the cartridge.

As the cartridges become newer, especially with color, they can be a real pain to reset, static affecting the chips, funky contacts, tiny pieces not having proper continuity, etc.

One of my gigs is rebuilding cartridges, so this is something that is in my backyard, so to speak.
