I am presumming that you have your 'Legal' paper in one certain cassette. Make sure that the paper type for that cassette is set to the type of stock that is being used.
Please don't ask me for firmware or service manuals as refusal often offends.

Sorry, one other thing I just thought in case the paper type is correct.

I have seen this in a couple of the smaller HP printers, not the 8150, but works one the same principle.

I have had bad power supplies cause the same issue. They weren't supplying enough voltage to the fuser. It would heat slower than other machines, but heat up all the same. As soon as it came to longer print runs, the power supply didn't have enough voltage to keep the fuser at the right temp during the run.

Just another thought to add to my previous post.

Good call Owl, the 8150 has power supply issues. 9 times out of 10 if you get a fuser code on this machine, it really needs a power supply. I would check the media type first.

Actually its cold solder joints on the power supply that gives the problem and can usually be fixed by re-soldering them.

I know it sounds silly, but you should check the fuser assembly itself and verify that the nip levers are released. This fuser has two levers that when pushed into the up position unload the spring tension between the fuser rollers to prevent flat spots from occuring while in storage. If they are left up, the printer will exibit the exact symptoms you've described.

Yeah, I've got a customer who has to fiddle with the "envelope" pressure levers. I can usually get this one handled over the phone now. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
