The machine says to replace the image drum unit. Is there a reset procedure or is replacing the image drum unit the only option I have for resetting the error code?

The only thing the service manual says is the following:

    The imaging-drum light is
    blinking, and the printer
    stops printing.
     The imaging drum is
    empty or missing.
     The printer cannot
    detect the imaging
    drum correctly.
    1. Reinsert or replace the imaging drum.
    2. If the imaging-drum light is still blinking but the
Attention light is not on, turn the printer off and
    then back on.
    3. If the problem persists, repeat the above steps
with imaging drums until the error is resolved.
    4. If the problem persists, replace the imagingdrum
    E-label reader (see page 120).
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Coke in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!".
