Sorry everyone just caught a mistake the printer is a hp 4650
Clearing the model up makes all the difference. Thanks.
There are only 3 things that are mechanically involved in duplexing in this machine. P/U asm, transfer belt, & fuser. If it was the fuser, it wouldn't do regular print jobs either. It is rarely the transfer belt.
There is a swing guide at the bottom of the p/u assembly that gets broken (80% of the time this is the problem). When it does, it will print straight all day long, but won't duplex. Usually, you will see 2 pages on the back of the transfer belt, but I've seen other positions. The swing guide is gets attached to the junction guide (sometimes this breaks too) before installing.
Your choices are:
1) Replace the entire p/u asm. RG5-7453 - 4650 or RG5-6468 if you have a 4600. (do this if the registration roller is worn)
2) Replace the swing guide. RB2-8303 and the junction guide, RB2-8306 (Requires removal of the p/u asm)
3) Take a repair kit that has the most commonly used parts when you go out and save yourself another trip: (PM me for kit part number and where to get it)
(2) RF5-3739: ROLLER, CASSETTE PICKUP
(1) RB2-8280 FLAG, CASSETTE, PAPER SENSING
(1) RB2-8306 GUIDE, JUNCTION (BLACK PLASTIC RIBBED BAR WITH TABS ON EACH END)
(1) RB2-8303: GUIDE, SWING, PAPER PICKUP (FLAT BLACK RIBBED PLASTIC BAR WITH NO TABS ON END)
Includes Instructions with Photos
Hope this helps you
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Coke in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!".
