    9500 MFP 30.1.12 scan failure

Anyone recognize this code and dealt with it before?
    Already done:
    1. swapped scanner board on back of machine with a working machine
    2. swapped copy connect card
    3. swapped cable from 1. to 2.
    4. NVRAM Initialize
    5. cold reset
    6. reseat everything on formatter
    7. firmware upgrade
    8. tested scanner components in diag. mode

    Thanks,

    J

see you did the firmware upgrade but what version did you upgrade to? Did you replace the firmware card or just flash it? I'd try replacing it.

    Version 20080403 08.101.9

    Embedded Digital Sending:
    • Embedded Send to Folder can now use DNS or WINS

    FIXES:
    Base MFP:
    • You may receive an error while trying to delete an email distribution list which has long entries.
    • Excessive DNS traffic when resolving LDAP, SMTP, and KDC server IP addresses may cause the MFP to become slow or unresponsive

    Embedded Digital Sending:
    • Digital Send client application may hang when you press the RESET or STOP buttons after initiating a scan.

Oh ya didn't mention that one we replaced the firmware card also. This error is just saying the scanner wont even come on correctly all you can do is print and its not hooked up to a network at this time its just stand alone.

Sounds like you've covered it all. Can you max the memory or replace it? I've seen the memory sticks go bad and cause problems on other mfp's.

Just a shot in the dark does it have a HDD? If so try a disk intialization. I have learned if you have a docking station or external drive case you can format the drive with windows, chkdsk it, and put it back in machine and do a disk initialization to format with HP's file system. I have been able to recover several HDD this way. If that doesn't work than I would replace the HDD. As it sounds like you have tried all other options.

This is of course unless the new formatter had a new HDD with it or there is not one in there.

Wow...Have you got this one figured out? When you say "whole feeder" you mean the ADF unit or the full scanner assem?

Also as MLP mention have you tried new or good known memory sticks?

Is the device plugged into a surge protector or directly to the wall? Maybe a power issue there. Can you or have you done a SCB flash upgrade? I think that was something going on with the 9000/9050 printers and this error and it was recommended to do a scb flash upgrade. Check the connections in the laser scanner assem maybe they came loose there and not at the boards as you have check those already.

Figured it out... Loose connection was overlooked. It was barely visible. Thanks for the suggestions.
