I'm getting a 55.A error on this printer. It just keep on running when power on.
Press GO button do nothing. Any ideas? Would it be the Formatter PCA or Engine Controller the most possible fix?
Thank in advance.

My manual does not offer a definition of the ".A" portion of the code, but for "55.xx" I have:
Internal Communications Error.
First firmware DIMM, then Formatter, then Engine PWB.
Personally I've not seen this one before. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Thanks for your response blackcat. There is also no 55.A error code in my manual too, only has code 55 which is a Internal Communications Error occurs inside the machine.
Also this is the first time I come across with this strange code.

Why don't you search for this error on the HP tech forums. I'm sure it's been addressed there.

Paul, thanks you very much for your precious advise.
I just curious why HP don't list all the codes in the manual and the instructions ain't clear.
I think most the techs have to "search in the dark" to find out the solution when there are new problems arose.

HP isn't the company today as it was when it was building it's reputation. Now it's just another cheap Chinese junk company. The 4000 series was a great printer though. I've worked on a ton of them back in the day I was in the field.

You're right, this printer has been working flawlessly over 8 yrs.
A good machine indeed.
