    HP 3005n mispicking

first of all i hardly work on HP's.

i have a customer who is having jamming problem from tray 2 only.when i arrived, the roller was covered in paper dust. they are using 105g of letterhead and high quality paper too. it only jams at the pick up roller. pick up roller does not pick it up. after cleaning the roller it came back in after a month with the same problem. so this time i replaced the pickup roller and the friction pad. month later it started mispcking again. paper is still in the tray.

the heaviest you can use in tray 2 is 120g. which was checked in the specification.

is there anything that i might have missed out? any ideas?

On the P3005 series I have noticed the Paper tray locking mechanism brakes. This causes the paper to push the paper guide back just a little causing jamming at the feed, 13.01 errors. Use some good packing tape to lock it and see what happens.

    This seems too obvious.

Dusty paper (and it usually is letterhead - preprinted) over time causes the PF roller set to become contaminated, then slip when feeding. You can clean and replace the rollers all you want, but this will keep happening. You have said it yourself. Each month it returns.

I've seen this from desktop printers through to production machines. Same story each time.

I seem to recall reading a post about this a few days ago...

Oh, here it is! And also by you.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
