HP LJ 4350 Constant PJ 13.10.00

Can anyone please help..
I am a Canon tech, and during an install that a customer they was going to scrap a HP LJ 4350dtnsl
So i saved it going to the skip
The reason is that a user cleared a PJ (With some force) and a part dropped out of it
The part is a piece of plastic with a spring on it, and since then it always jams

This is the part in question

On inspection i have found the above jam code is due to Tray 2 not lifting
I have had a good look to see where this part goes but without any success

If anyone can help me on this, and why the tray is not lifting i would be very greatful

I don't recognize the part, but I think it's unrelated. The couple times that I've come across no-lift for tray 2, it turned out to be a power supply. To be sure put your meter on the lift motor leads. If no 24vdc is present when you push in the tray, then check the 24vdc input to the engine board. If it's also absent at the engine board you can be sure.

When you power off and unplug for 1/2 hour the power supply may reset, but will probably only lift a few times before it cuts out again. =^..^=

That looks like a piece from the paper tray. I would get a new tray if I were you. RM1-1088 is the part number. If it still doesn't lift replace the lift drive asm.

Well i have got a little further

That part was from the tray, on the L/H side guide
(Found out when i tried to ajusted the paper size..)

But now the tray lifts ...YEAAA
BUT, it constant jams now with 13.01.00
I have tried new rollers, and it stills jams
Having the side off it, you can see it tries to pick, and then retries, before it reports the jam code

But works okay from tray 1 (MPT)

Any idea will be greatful
I have tried a cold reset, but without any success

When you watch from the rear of the printer do you see the pick-up roller trying to pick the paper? Does the paper move at all? If it doesn't, does the solenoid at the gear asm on the right side toggle to permit the gears to turn? If not replace the solenoid. Sometimes the bushing under the gear drive gets out of position or broken. This can cause this problem. If the rollers move, but it doesn't make contact with the paper, you still have a lift problem. Related either to the tray or the lift drive as it isn't bringing the paper up to reach the roller. If the paper moves, but stops it may be a gear drive related problem or an obstruction in the paper path. Sometimes the big compression spring above the pick arm gets knocked sideways and that can cause this problem.

Well talk about being THICK ...DERRRR DOH

I wish i let this poor thing got to the skip in the sky now
Having looked at a working printer, and it was so easy to see why
The Black plate that is inside the printer,that houses the pick roller it's well Broken
The pick roller & the pick roller shaft is totally missing

No wonder
Should of seen it, but was was looking at the problem deeper

I'm hoping you can help. I have a very similar issue with a Laserjet 4250. I get the 13.10 errors from tray 2 very often. When I try a test print and look at the rollers from the back of the printer, the first page will usually go through just fine. I can see the two blue rollers rotating upon themselves as they should and when it would be time for the second page to be picked from the tray, I would expect the blue roller to reverse path and engage the pick roller. This part doenst occur. I hear a couple of clicks and then it throws the error.
Any help would be appreciated.

I have printed off a event log page and the last 50 errors all read
13.01.00 Paper Feed 1 . Paper Late Jam
the page count ranges from event one at 1171865 to event 50 at 1173380

At this point you should remove the right front cover (yes you have to take off the formatter cover and the top cover to remove it). Put the top cover back on and connect the drive linkage to the toner door but dont screw it down. Run your tests again watching the pick-up drive work.

It could be:
Solenoid sticking
feed roller bushing missing or broken
damaged gear obstruction in the path from the tray to the registration asm
or a dirty sensor.
