okay thanks wazza, I do remember from when I went to the service call their fax speed was at slow. but i dont remember if the error correction mode was on or off! how aboutthe automatic reduction? will that help if i have it on off? thanks for the help guys.

I dont think automatic reduction mode will help you, or change the symptoms here. That only helps fit the whole document on a single page if one end is sending a slightly bigger paper size or the original slips through the feeder a bit too much causing it to read as a bigger piece of paper than it really is.
I've been thinking about this one, and you really should check the fax menu of that machine and change the ECM setting. I have no idea how to change a HP fax transmission level, so I'm not going there, but in all reality you shouldnt need to unless their phone line is totally shizznit.

Haha, their line and mashine is probably took a shizznit!! LOL. thanks for the advice im heading up there in a few and will try the settings out. will post the results.

So I went up to the machine today and I tried to set the ECM to off and the fax speed to slow, I also turned off the auto reduction and turned it on, but still I get the same problem. I will test the machine back at the shop that way I can test it in different lines and different settings. I will give hp support a call, even if I'm on hold for an hour, and get this straightned out. Will post results when I get time to call.
