    hp color 8500 svc mode

    hey there,
    can anyone tell me if its possible to reset the "drum life counter"
    not sure if if this correct but i was able to access the service mode
    from the ready state it showed nothing about drum life, just drum motor devo motor
    etc.. is there another procedure to access the service mode and can it be done?

    thanks for replying back, how about a pico fuse of some sort / does a new drum have some kind of fuse that blows when a new drum is installed so it can reset the counter? if not then how does it reset?

    It is possible. If you have EPROM Flash programmer you can program drum chip with new drum chip dump. The chip is Atmel 93C46 and is programmable with most of EPROM Flash programmers
