Exclamation HP Laser Jet 2420 With Ghost Image

I have a client with an HP LJ 2420 that ghosts the image, I replaced the
fuser unit since most of the time that is what fixed that type of issue on
my cases, the ghost was still there, after some tinkering and client telling
me that it had started when they replaced the toner cartridge, I
recommended replacing the Toner Cartridge, customer ordered more and
called a couple of days ago stating that the ghost image disappears for
a couple of days then it returns again, I triple checked it wasn't a refurb
cartridge, it isn't, it's a brand new HP OEM cartridge.

    Any ideas?

    1. Update firmware
    2. Clean and check HVPS contacts from power supply to contacts are not damaged. Replace as needed.
    3. Replace HVPS.
    4. Replace DC controller

Wild Bill has some good ideas, certainly the half page test for troubleshooting and the transfer roller. Some fuser temp issues have been resolved with a firmware update.
