Have an M4345 that jams the originals when you duplex. I believe it's the exit rollers, because I cleaned them and it worked fine. My question is, is the part available separately? I looked in the parts manual, and nothing for the internal assy aside from the ADF rollers and sep pad is numbered. Have to replace entire ADF? Seems rediculous even for HP. Thanks..... Jeff M.

Yes it's ridiculous, and many HP's are like this. In a few cases there is a similarly built Canon DF, and the separate parts may or may not fit the HP. Canon parts manuals typically have better parts breakdowns.

prntrfxr: Is this HP LJ M4345 DF similar to a Canon DF, and what model?

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I assume you are referring to the reversing assembly or the reversing-separation guide. These are 2 different assemblies but both are used during the duplex process and they have rollers. (duplex unit is only responsible for the turn). RM1-1022 = Reversing Asm (lower) and RM1-1019 = Reversing-Separation Asm (upper). The latter is easier to replace. The former has a free floating spring that can fall out.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Coke in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!".

If its the ADF the only thing on these that you can replace are the pickup roller, sep pad, mylar strips (can get all as a Maint Kit) or the covers. All other parts you have to purchase the whole ADF. Its really bad b/c I have 2 sitting that make a grinding noise due to the gears on the backside and cannot fix b/c the whole unit is all you can purchase. Have them sitting in the closet hoping I get one that has something else wrong with it so I can piece one back together.

Thanks blackcat, TommyH and prntrfxr for your replies. prntrfxr: the assemblies you refer to are in the body of the printer itself. My problem is in the ADF, so I guess a new ADF is it. Thanks again. Regards..... Jeff M.
