What is the best 3rd party maintenance I can buy for 4540 and 4730 printers - we are in Jacksonville, Florida (ZIP 32256).

My boss and I are very capable of complex tear-down and rebuilds, and we perform extensive troubleshooting and problem-determination before we choose to engage outside assistance.

We are looking for a support option that does not run us through the "are you sure it's plugged-in?" tier-1 insanity.

Well, I would be remiss if I didn't price-out all options. For example, if we discovered it'd be a better value to just call someone out incident-by-incident, then we would do maintenance kits ourselves. BUT, when it comes to paper jams caused by worn-out paper paths, and having to troubleshoot all the different clearances and paper guides, I would definitely be on the phone to get someone who actually knows what they're doing over to fix us up!

ebay and Amazon are great places to start for Kits. If you were in San Diego I would love to help. That's what we do here.

I'm a service tech and would recommend the PARTS NOW tech support. You will have to create an account and buy some stuff before they give you their support # but I've found they cut to the chase and give practical advice. I know what you mean about HP support and going through tiers 1, 2, and 3 just to talk to someone who speaks English and won't ask is there paper in tray 2?

I know what you mean about HP support! I'll actually look at their support forums just to find effective solutions that others have found and then posted there as opposed to the useless tips given by HP.

We also use parts now.. mostly very good parts and good tech support if needed.

A lot of the old long time techs from Parts Now moved to Liberty Parts Team. I have talked to some of them for 13 years now. Great HP support.
