Does anyone have DISK INIT instructions for CM4540? I've searched/Googled, no joy.

All of the instructions I encountered where for other models, ones that have a different button-set (I have no dedicated "menu" key, for example).

This CM4540 has been a PIA since we bought it... I hope this model is not representative of what HP wants to put in SMB and small enterprises!

Are you trying to replace a hard drive and not having it initialise, or are you getting a message like EIO (number) Disk Initializing?

The boot-up screen stops with "disk check 41%"

Sounds like the hard drive is either going flaky or doesn't have a good connection to the formatter board. Try reseating all of the connections and look at downloading and installing the latest firmware from HP's site.

Sadly, this is what HP considers a business class machine...

I was able to access the admin functions:

Wait until all 3 LEDs were solid, press the STOP button.

    admin password is 11454010

I performed a CLEAN DISK, which required me to have firmware available (I elected to use USB thumbdrive).

    It's back up (for now).

Thanks, once again, to the folks cruising these forums. You rock.
