HP JetDirect 610N compatible with HP CLJ CM3530?

My HP CLJ CM3530 came with an expensive HP 615N or 630N JetDirect card which I didn't need and resold for $130.

Since I've been unable to find a cover for the now empty EIO slot I got the cheapest EIO card I could find which I thought would be compatible, the JetDirect 610N.

However with this card installed the machine never starts up, it hangs at step 6 F... Actually on the 2nd try it did start up, but when I connected a network cable to the new card just to test it it said something like "Error, auto-restart...". It seems to not want to boot if a network cable is connected to it, but on the 3rd try the machine crashed and said something like "Turn off then back on" while I was in the card's settings on the machine's display.

Is the card either not compatible with my machine or maybe damaged?

In the worst case I guess I can unscrew the card from the plastic cover, block the network port hole in the cover and use that as a better way to block my EIO slot, but I'd ideally like the card to actually be functional.

    Thanks

The JetDirect 610 card was recalled by HP about 4 years ago.

Recalled for what problem? Is it related to the issues I described?

Should I just remove the card itself from the plastic cover, block the square hole for the network cable and use the plastic cover to block the hole?

That would still end up cheaper than buying the proper cover which seems impossible to find (most people upgrade, not downgrade, and you'd only need the cover to downgrade).

      Thanks

just put a piece of tape over the hole.

You sold the network card? Buy another. Get the 620 jet direct card. ebay. ? Or I'll sell you one for $130. Let me know.

This machine already has a built in print server which is why I sold the second one they added. I simply wanted the cheapest one I could find to block the hole left over and found a 610N for $10 shipped on eBay, I had the hole covered with tape in the meantime.

I ended up unscrewing the card itself from the plastic cover part, put strong gorilla tape over the hole for the network cable, and screwed this plastic cover on the machine so now the hole is blocked much better than 2 strips of scotch tape.

            Thanks

Pretty serious problem you had there. Glad you got it taken care of. You are just a printer guru. Kidding around . LOL.

Stick a piece of Texas toast in the slot. It fits perfect and will enhance the functionally of your printer. It will print twice as fast.

                  Hello

Say Paul. Wasn't it the 615 jet direct card that was recalled?

                  Not the 610 ??

I think it was both actually.
