Hp cm6040 fuser reset at life end.

I was wondering if there is a way to reset the Fuser End of life message.

We have a customer offshore and when the fusing unit runs out of life they tend to change the fusing out for another machine until a replacement arrives.

So the fuser they are putting into the machine still has life in it although the machine it is going into has the error message Fuser needs replaced.

It doesn't look like it there is probably a fuse that blows when the new fuser is installed.
You either need to get the old fuser and find the fuse and exchange it or they to practice one in one on hand.

There is no fuse in a new fuser from HP. I can give you info on what fuse to use and where to fit if you need it.

This is probably stupid, but if they are offshore and they have been through this before, the reason why they don't have at least one new replacement fuser on hand for the machines is because:

    Bill that would be great.

Their stores department keep misplacing them so looking for an alternative we where looking into the possibilty of just resetting these and saving charges.

It can not be reset. The fuser has a burnable fuse which is blown when the fuser is first installed. That resets the fuser count. You need to replace with a new unused fuser in order for the count to be reset.

That's actually an excellent reason why they shouldn't keep fusers there.

I reset these fusers on a regular basis. Reset once and then change them for a new fuser. A new fuser does not have a fuse installed to be blown on first install.
