    4050 D-rollers

Hi, All. I have a question (may be a stupid one). I am replacing the d shaped feed rollers on a 4050 and noticed that tray 2 (top cassette tray) does not have a spring and the little white hook on the left side of the shaft, but tray 3 does. Does tray 2 need a spring and white hook? I have looked at 2 hp printers and neither have the spring on tray 2, even though it looks like it should be there.

Yes, It should have the spring and white hook. That's the mechanism that makes the pickup roller complete a single pickup cycle, then wait for the next page pickup. It's really easy to knock the spring off when changing pickup rollers =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
