    HP LJ4000N, jams in fuser.

HP LJ4000N, paper stalls when it enters the fuser for roughly an inch, sometimes two, giving a paper jam indication. The sheet of paper is not at all nicked or damaged. Fuser exit sensor seems to work cause when I manually actuate it it gives a jam indication straight on. Take up rollers and fuser unit are almost new. Fuser rollers seem to nip the paper normally since removal of the jammed sheet needs some force.

    Any idea's where to look?

    .......and yes, you're right I'm a HP-Noob.....

Is it an original or a reman fuser ?

Usual cause of this is failure of fixing film to rotate freely due to lack of grease on the contact heater bar.

Try another fuser if you have one handy

Yes Dickie, re-manufactured fuser but from a well known supplier. I would normally try another fuser unit first but have none at hand for the moment. Any other indications that the fixing film isn't rotating before I submit a claim with the supplier?

Just take out the fuser and try to wind a sheet of paper through it by winding the drive gear by hand.

Also if you have any of the white grease try putting more on the heat bar.

These fusers are easy to split and work on

    What jam code?
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I have had this happen too, it usually goes back to the fuser assembly Teflon roller not rolling because of to little grease. As others have stated, disassemble the fuser and re-grease it, the problem should go away.

Does the pressure roller and bushings in fuser assembly looks good?

    Yes,or 100ml tube.
I personaly put a thin layer over fusing resistance bar and make sure cover the entire surface and some on film bushing. Before that five a good clean over old grease. If you put too much grease, won't fuse the toner properly on paper.
