HP CLJ 5500 jams and blanks out of tray 2

Came across this today and didn't really have much time to troubleshoot. Only when using tray 2 the machine will print blank prints and too many sheets at a time and jams. One in the fuser and then usually two on the transfer belt. bypass feeder works fine. Maybe a bad feed clutch? Why is it blank though? Interesting! Any help?
    Thanks.

Are you sure it's not just double feeding?

If you've replaced the sep roller, then you probably just need to take the pad off the feed clutch solenoid. Maybe replace it with tape.

    See this post:
What do you guys do with sticky solenoids?

Tray 1 takes a different path and uses different solenoid. bernyb probably right with solenoid pad. They get sticky. If you don't want to deal with that and the rollers are worn too, try the following:

Probably just need a p/u asm replacement. Simple fix. Blank pages because it doesn't reach the sensor at the correct time. Printer assumes there is a jam. Or problem can also occur if sensor is bad and reads paper when there isn't any. Go to diagnostic menu and Sensor test. You can toggle sensors open and closed. (Of course, the sensors are represented by letters so you will need a service manual to know which one is which.)
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Coke in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!".
