HP color laserjet 3550 Unexpected type?

So we ran a call for jamming which was cured w/ new tires & pads.

What remains is a frequent prompt of "unexpected type in tray 2 ? load tray ???
Code is 41.05, for the 4000, 5000 series this is a feed error, is it still a feed problem?

Did you check the menus to make sure that tray two was set up correctly?
(Sorry, just something stupid I did to myself a couple of times.)

Yep reviewed the settings more than once. It does not give this prompt every print but very frequently. I keep thinking the paper type is being changed by one of their medical software applications,there are multiple wok stations using this printer which is why I've requested they log what application their in when this happens. We have also defaulted the machine more than once. I might return & try to print several dozen docs from word to observe if the prompt comes up at all.

Could be the setting in the document their trying to print. It will ask User to use another tray to print and they press the check button it will print but you'll get the error 41

User is not being prompted to select another paper source. Thanks though.

check that the guides in the tray are in the correct position for the paper loaded. sometimes they shift back if someone slams it shut. also check the micro switches the tray contacts to let the machine know what size paper is loaded they can hang up or go bad.

Did not find any switches actuated by the paper tray. We set the paper type to "other" to see if prompt disappears.

For what it is worth, you might check the sensors around the registration roller. They also detect the size of the paper that passes through the machine.
