    hp designjet 500

OK. Just wondering where to find the correct print drivers for the hp 500. Customer has win7 and win8. Some simple blueprints will print properly but a full document will be missing
    sections of text or drawings.
It may be time to retire this machine. Also wondering what a good upgrade w/scanner would be. Maybe HP T2500 or Kip 3000/3100 .
    Any ideas would be appreciated

AFAIK there is no Win7 or Win8 driver. The last driver I installed was Win98 which was installed on a scrap PC, which served as a print server and shared out the driver. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Every older plotter I work on for the military is set up with a stand alone lap top for that very reason. Personally I love the 500. Very simple and easy to work on. The T and Z series plotters are a different matter. I have two of them kicking my ass right now.

The drivers for Windows 7 and 8, both x86 and x64, are right on HP's website.

If you have out of memory issues, there's an option in the driver to send the job as a bitmap. This moves the RIP process from the printer to the PC. It's on the Services tab, there's one button to troubleshoot printing issues.
