HP p2055 "install black cartridge" message

I have tried a couple of known working cartridges from another p2055 yet the printer doesn't seem to reconise the cartridge in the machine.

Is this a known issue on this model?

engine control board works on both the P2035 and P2055 for the replace toner message. The part number is RM1-6392.
