Sanford, NC (May 17, 2019) — Static Control was recognized Tuesday by the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality as one the newest members of the Environmental Stewardship Initiative (ESI). The ESI program currently has 197 member sites located across North Carolina, representing a broad array of industry sectors including pharmaceutical, automotive, technology and more. The ESI promotes and encourages superior environmental performance by North Carolina organizations. This voluntary program was established to stimulate the development and implementation of programs that use pollution prevention and innovative approaches to meet and exceed regulatory requirements. “Static Control is committed to providing superior products while developing programs to protect the environment,” said Debbie Bigelow, Static Control’s environmental, health and safety supervisor. “The ESI assists members in developing and implementing programs designed to reduce the environmental impact from their operations and are designed to go above and beyond the regulatory requirements, which results in a better environment, natural resource conservation, and long-term economic benefits.” Bigelow shared some Static Control’s environmental facts: Since 2016, Static Control has diverted 1910 tons of solid waste from local landfills; Static Control has recycled 70% of total solid waste generated since 2016; Compared to 2016, Static Control has reduced its carbon footprint by 6% in 2017 and 18% in 2018; Static Control consumed 7% less electricity in 2018 compared to 2017, and 33% less water. The ESI provides a network of environmental resources to assist members in becoming more effective stewards of the environment.
