Re: 2nd sides are grey through a dual scan ADF (DF702)

This is turning out to be the worst problem I've had in 30 years!

Dual scan - side 2s are readable, but either a light grey background or quite heavy background and lines (intermittently, but when happens, it stays until you power off and on again - returns fairly quickly)

All started after a C-9401 error code - we replaced the CCD, CCD cable and cable clamps - as per the bulletin (the C-9401 has not returned since replacement of these parts)

Since the dual scan copy quality we have:

Swapped the complete ADF (CIS reader) - DF702 with all wiring.
Replaced the dual scan PWB (and now the ribbon cable between the two PWBs)
Used the reset tool to reset the MFP PWB
Today we replaced the MFP PWB.

The fault returned within 15 minutes!!!!!!

We swapped the CCD with a working machine's CCD - The fault returned (we tried this as the fault occurred after the original CCD replacement)

    The fault returned!!!

We have replaced CCDs on other C654e machines, due to C-9401 error codes, with no further problems at all.

ONE IS PULLING ONE'S HAIR OUT!!!

Konica tech support DO NOT HAVE A SOLUTION for this??

    HEEELLLLPPPPPP !!!!!

Contact your DSM and fill out a "customer one guarantee" claim. They will have to send the DSM out to look at the machine and try to fix it. If he cannot fix it. They will more than likely replace it for you!
Everyone has the right to be stupid. Some people just abuse this privelage more than others

We have now done the above. Konica Minolta UK Tech Support will visit this week.

Re: 2nd sides are grey through a dual scan ADF (DF702)

    Update, but still no conclusion.

KM tech specialist attended a week ago. The fault has gone, but only by disabling the CIS cleaner roller/brush.

Obviously this isn't an answer for us yet.....but at least the customer isn't calling in every 10 minute any more!

Still waiting to hear from KM what the next step is?

You might check that the timing of the cleaning brush/white plate is correct. If it's off by 2 teeth on the timing belt, the white plate doesn't stop in the right position. It's really hard to describe the timing marks. The way I did it was to bring along a scrap ADF, and remove front and rear covers. Then compare the position of the flag, and roller. Keep in mind that the roller turns when you open the door, so peek in through the holes in the frame with the door closed. I don't know if you can make anything of the pictures but here they are:

    DF702 Front Marks.JPGDF702 Rear Timing Marks.JPG

In the first picture there are mark on the outer edge of the bronze bushing which you can't really see with the clip on. There are marks off center that align with the flat of the shaft. On the rear ... well I see that paint mark I made on the disk/flag, but I have no idea what I was thinking at the time. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

    Hi, thanks for the post.
We have previously swapped the complete DF-702 and the problem remained on the original machine.
We've had plenty of issues on the DF-701 with the cleaning roller/brush (over the slit glass) being out of position, but his is the first time a dual scan adf (CIS) has caused us major problems.....
