Hi everyone, been a while.
I am trying to flash the firmware. I have the firmware (version: MFP-20). I extracted the files to a USB drive plug the drive into the MFP (I even tried second USB port on the back that was covered by tape) in and nothing happens except for the little notification on the LCD after warm-up. I tried half a dozen different drives. Recommended flash drives in the manual were 1gb so I made a 1gb partition on one drive and tried Fat, Fat32 and even NTFS—I doubt this is a partitioning issue, but I tried it anyways. Writing firmware on these machines is very easy--what the *@#$?
Here is why I am fooling with the Frimware:
1) Printing to the MFP has become extraordinarily slow especially with PS drivers (used different computers, different drivers, reset all settings, manually changed the adapter speed, eliminated the network and more).
2) When printing, the image is shifted about 1/4" down the page (toward the operator side) regardless of the tray used and it doesn't happen all the time.
Both of these issues manifested on the same day.
Some more strange behavior:
I formatted the HDD and performed the CF card recovery. Funny thing was after the CF card, the default admin pass (12345678) would not work (I had to manually set it in Tech Rep > Security Sets just to get into admin mode). I then setup the TCP/IP, could ping to it but couldn’t print. Set DHCP on and could print...yes I know what I am doing with TCP/IP.
