    Thumb drive (firmware updating)

    Hi everyone,

I have noted several comments on hardships encountered on field when updating or rewriting firmware i was in those shoes today where i had a 2GB Samsung thumb drive trying to rewrite firmware on bizhub C552, it took me almost 2 hours before i tried formating the same using CMD (command prompt) its only then that baby responded accordingly and the procedure was successfully completed...this is in case one of our kind get stuck out there.

    Best of regards,

    Ahmed R. Chamumi.

    Re: Thumb drive (firmware updating)

Personally I have found the unbranded 2GB & 4GB usb drives picked up on eBay to be absolutely fine.

I format the drive in windows before I copy the FW to the stick, works every time. (see pic)

    Re: Thumb drive (firmware updating)

Those are a few of the things I try when firmware fails. I'll try:

    1) reformatting the drive and copying the firmware back onto the stick
    2) a different stick
    3) extracting the firmware from the compressed form again
    5) a fresh download
    6) a different USB port (if your machine doesn't care which USB port you use)
    7) updating the firmware one file at a time to see if some files take and some do not. I've seen situations where the full download does not go, but 1/2 of the files or only a few files at a time does work.

None of these is successful 100% of the time, but you have some things to try. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
