    It is not possible to reset the IU life through the machine. The consumable resets the counter.

    from memory the "chip" on the drum is 3 pins, between 2 are a resistor (type identification & installed detection) and between other 2 pins is a very light duty fuse, blown when counter is reset and new to be detected as new. They are smd and very small and fidly to replace.

    I have jury rigged a pico fuse between the appropriate pins as required in an emergency to get a blown new toner cart level reset etc.
