The belts snap always at the end where the belt is folded over itself to form a loop and is crimped. The brass crimp ends up cutting all the way through the belt. Crap belt design, clearly just an existing off the shelf belt being modified to suit a specific application instead of being designed from the ground up for the task.

To improve the quality of the Scanner Belt in the Optical Unit, the following changes have been implemented
for the Caulking Parts and Tension Coil Spring of the Scanner Belt.
<Caulking Parts>
- Change the Material (Brass => SUS)
- Change the Tip Shape (Wave Shape => Flat)
- Width Change of the Caulking Parts (4mm => 6mm)
- Defines the hight of the Caulking Parts (2.9mm)
<Tension Coil Spring>
- Change the inner diameter of the hook part in the "inner diameter 5.55mm"
Due to the above changes, the Parts Number of the Scanner Belt has been changed
