    LD6500 (BHC6500) intermittant C-2720 code

    As defined by the manual:

    When the second transfer was
    ON, second transfer abnormality
    detection signal was continuously
    detected for the specified time.

Looking at the copy the second transfer roller voltage dropped out.
The book sez the HV/2 or the secondary transfer roller. I did clean the roller with 50% simple green
and wiped it with a damp rag till it came clean and free of the soap.

This machine has a little more than 8.5 million clicks, it was rode very hard and then stored in a warehouse uncovered for God only knows how long.
The customer wants me to fix it to the point where it will at least run from one tray and the by pass. When it does run it makes a fairly good print.
What is the most common cause for this code? I did clean the contact in the front. I could put some conductive grease on it?
Looking through the parts counter log in service most of the parts are listed in red. On my next visit I will go through and clean the connectors
    with contact cleaner.
    Anyway that's my project machine.

    Thanks

    DR

Start with replacing the second transfer roller.

I've never used Simple Green on them, or anything else. AFAIK Simple Green is only good for getting everything permanently sudzy and never clean.

I seem to recall that there is a mechanism for raising and lowering the second transfer roller, and if it's not in that cradle properly it will code out. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

    Thanks Blackcat,
That could be a good possibility, as this machine was shipped out from the mid-west. It did look like it was in the cradle
correctly but I will check it tomorrow.

when ever we pull a machine from storage we always replace all consumables, firm up, etc...

Lower Transfer roller is in the correct way... Check your brass ground on the near side...

Check the cam action of the lower transfer roller as well...

Well, the lower transfer roller seemed OK. I did wipe it down with a damp rag and sprayed some contact cleaner in the connectors for the high voltage.
I ended up looking the transfer unit over. It was totally contaminated. I took this without the belt to the shop for a good cleaning. All the contacts
look OK. The rollers were all covered with toner. I'll put this back together tomorrow morning and give it another shot.
I just need to wipe the belt down and clean the contacts with cleaner.

The prints had an inch or two of good transfer and then an inch or so of bad transfer and coded out with C-2720.

    This helps:
    Paper settings-next-nex-2nd Trans. Pressure ->Low

Check I/O check mode 2nd transfer roller movement, some slipping happens etc
It wonīt hold itīs right position.

    I must correct myself
I just check my C7000 with 2720 error also occured every now and then.
2nd movement is normal, no slipping etc.

Just have to print slower speed, then no C-2720.
Sometimes it feels that itīs because of faulty connectors, but those are checked.

I would swap out the ITB unit, we had a issue where we would change the HV/2 board and still have issue just swap out the ITB assembly either with another or rebuild the one you have change power blocks and rollers see if that helps.

Arcadian, you were right. Thank you for your suggestion.

I swapped IBT unit from the other machine and C-2720 is away.
    Fingers cross
