If that band is in the feed direction, It's magenta. Either a dirty laser slit glass, a bare spot on the developing roller, or possibly even dirty laser optics (internal optics). =^..^=

2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.

If the wand does not help, then yes, you must remove it from the copier. Keep in mind that painted screws indicate critical adjustments, and should not be touched. You don't have the proper equipment to re-align laser optics, so just clean, not disassembly.
With a blank area as large as that you should have no trouble identifying the culprit.

Had the same problem on a C454 the problem was the faulty laser unit.
Obviously it could also be an electronic board problem
