    Ghost paper jams

    Hello everyone,

So my Bizhub C284 is having phantom paper jams. The machine reports that there's a paper jam and gives instructions to open up the door and unjam the paper that's in there, but there's no paper in there and all you need to do is open the door and close it and the error goes away. This seems like it's some type of sensor or something going off in error. Any suggestions ? Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
    PP

A jam code would be helpful. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I'll have to wait until the next jam I guess, unless you can direct me to a place where the jam code is stored in a log or something? I'm going to look around the web UI to see if there's a record of these ghost paper jams. Thanks for the reply.

Will keep this in mind as I troubleshoot this issue. Thanks for the suggestion.

    Re: Ghost paper jams

    Error
    jam code 72-21

    Root Cause
    FS-533/FS-534, jam code 72-21.

    Workaround/Fix
CAUSE: Possibly a failed sensor, motor or Finsher Control Board (FSCB). Additionally, firmware may require updating.

SOLUTION: Before troubleshooting any components, ensure that any firmware requiring an update is installed (latest version).

    1. Check Paper surface detect sensor/1 (PS102) at FSCB CN102 and replace if necessary. (p/n A2YUPPT800) 2. Verify Paper exit motor (M102) operation at FSCB CN109 and replace if necessary. (p/n A2YUPPW400) 3. If jamming still occurs, check if CP102 is OPEN on the FSCB. If so, replace the board (p/n A2YUPPH901).

Yeah, I've found this information in an online manual. How do I get access to the PS102 sensor. I can see the location according to this document:
    ftp://64.83.217.34/CUSTOMER%20HELP%2...am%20Codes.pdf

But it's not apparent once I open the door. How would you get access to that sensor?

    Thanks

You're on a c284? That manual looks like it's for the 8 series. If you have access to firmware I would try updating that. Do you know which finisher you have?

Yeah, I'm dealing with a c284 but everything looks fairly similar. I don't have access to any firmware. I'm not sure which finisher I have. Can I find which finisher I have in the Web UI?

    Thanks
