B163 DF issue

Having a BH163 with some sort of DF scan issue.
It would try feed from the DF even if there is no paper loaded, same if the DF is open.
The rollers will run but will jam if there is paper.
Main board and DF with cable was change out.
After reinstalling the original board the problem went away, but returned after a couple of weeks.
Gave up and disconnected the DF so that it could be used.
So this is tickling me it must be something other than the DF the board or the cable...

It is strange situation...
Did you check and clean adf sensors ?
Also check Original cover set switch and magnet od adf
I bet on original detection sensor on the 3rd photo.

Did check all the sensors except the angle sensor you can check the lamp switch on and off if you poke it.

Was there today. Tech before me went thru the same problem.
If the DF is closed it jams in the same spot time and time again even if its open.
Took another DF and boards as the previous who had no luck with the replacments.
After putting the existing board back again it worked! It came back a month later.
So i was powerless on my first visit darn thing was stuffed.
Went back there to trouble shoot some more.
Plug the DF in and it worked fine.

No winning there.

If i understand good you try to replace complete ADF or just ADF board?
If you change complete ADF unit and problem is still there then it must be problem somewhere else,etc PRCB,MFPB,firmware...
163 is pretty old and simple machine and never had some big problems with troubleshooting.

Replaced the complete DF and the boards. Its working now so hope it stays that way.
